Home to The Pow-Wow Tree, a vestige of the various Native American tribes that once inhabited this area.

Welcome to Gladstone

Situated at the confluence of the Willamette and Clackamas rivers, and just twelve miles south of Portland, Gladstone is home to The Pow-Wow Tree, a vestige of the various Native American tribes that once inhabited this area.
Listed as an Oregon Heritage Tree, this large maple on Clackamas Boulevard was a meeting place for the Clackamas and Multnomah tribes to trade, settle disputes, and conduct wedding ceremonies.
Founded in the latter 19th century by Judge Harvey Cross and incorporated on January 10, 1911, Gladstone celebrates its beginnings as a place of assembly with the Chautauqua Festival, taking place in annually in Max Patterson Memorial City Park. Additional parks include: Valley View City Park, Ridgegate City Park, Olson Wetlands, and Max Patterson Memorial City Park.
If you’ve had enough of the great outdoors, head to Vogie’s Bar to cut loose on Dance Night, or play a game of Texas Hold’em at the Gladstone Card Room.
With Oregon City just to the south, across the Clackamas River, West Linn across the Willamette, and Milwaukie to the north, Gladstone is a hub of activity and community.
